For vertical transportation, both belt conveyors and screw conveyors have limitations. Belt conveyors require ribbed belts for vertical transport, while screw conveyors are unsuitable for heavy materials. To overcome these challenges, bucket elevators are used. They can have one or two columns and provide efficient, cost-effective vertical transport, saving physical space. Bucket elevators are an economical solution for bulk material transport, with inclinations of up to 70°, and, in special cases, horizontal configurations. They are designed in various types based on the material's characteristics, such as centrifugal or continuous models, with buckets fixed to either belts or chains.
